The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is investigating practical applications of behavioral insights to support evidence-based decision making. Behavioral insights yield innovative new tools in the form of nudges designed to improve tax compliance, and help taxpayers connect to benefits and credits available to them. To measure the impact of nudges, several randomized controlled trials have been conducted in the Collections and Verification Branch’s, Non-Filer and Collections programs. The presentation aims to share experiences including best practices and lessons learned, in the design, implementation, analysis, as well as the measurable benefits of selected nudge experiments.
