Bio:

Freda Bredy is the Acting Initiative Lead for the ReImagine HHS BUYSMARTER initiative, and the Lead for the BUYSMARTER Project Management Office at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In her program management roles, Bredy provides guidance and direction to ensure HHS maximizes the collective purchasing power of the Department — currently worth $24 billion in annual spending — to drive better pricing, achieve better terms, increase operational efficiencies and savings, while avoiding redundant contracting actions.

Bredy has been working in the information technology and healthcare fields for over 25 years. Her knowledge and expertise was developed in both the public and commercial sectors as well as in the military. She has worked as an officer and Engineer with the U.S. Army, as a Project Manager with BellSouth (now AT&T), and as a Marketing Finance intern with Sprint Nextel.  Additionally, as an IBM Managing Consultant, Bredy engaged multiple federal government clients including the U.S. Army, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In that capacity, Bredy’s focus was on implementing operational technology strategy across the enterprise.

She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tuskegee University, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
