Bio:
COL Ben Ring is the Chief of Applied Research & Development with U.S. Cyber Command. Commissioned an Armor Officer in 1996, his early assignments include Germany, Ft. Hood (TX), Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq in various leadership and staff positions. Later assigned to West Point, NY, he served as both a Research Scientist in Cybersecurity and as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science teaching programming, graphics, and digital forensics. His later assignments included Ft. Campbell (KY), Afghanistan, Ft. Leavenworth (KS), and Ft. Gordon (GA) serving as Information Systems Manager and Operations Officer. A CISSP, COL Ring has a BS in Computer Science (USMA), MS in C.S. (BU) and a Ph.D. in CS (Johns Hopkins); his thesis focused on adaptive asynchronous control and consistency in distributed data analytics to improve processing and analysis efficiency in both supercomputing and machine learning systems. He is married to LTC (ret) Ramit Ring, and they have three children
